The very first person to vote guessed that the correct definition
of KOLINSKY is #7, the Asiatic mink, so at least I didn't have to
hold my breath for 36 hours in hopes of a D0. Our new dealer is
Bill Hirst, whose human cannon ball (#12) was just the right
caliber to collect 5 natural points. Next in line were Judy
Madnick and Paul Keating, with 4 mixed points each.

Thanks to all for the fun.

It's all yours, Bill! (The next round is Round 1629, by the way.)

Thanks, Dodi! I think I rode on the coattails of a
much better phrasing of our definition!

This is getting *too* strange. Bill posted a word. I responded --
publicly, unfortunately. So I sent myself a crown -- and then Bill
said "New word up shortly." Are messages arriving in weird order -- or
were there DQs that weren't announced?

My messages aren't on the Yahoo! Group site, but I rec'd my crown via
email (although not my definition).

If this sounds confusing, it certainly is!!!!

Well, the times on the series of messages I mentioned are appropriate, but for some reason I received them in the wrong order. I wonder -- maybe it's because some were posted directly on Yahoo and others from the Tapcis forum?

Oh, well. I guess there are more important things in life to worry about.

Allow me to explain.

Apparently, Bill uses two (or more) e-mail addresses. One of them is known
by the Yahoo Dixonary group, the other isn't. Therefore, messages sent from
Bill's second address end up in the moderation queue.

When I checked my mail, I got a notice of a message in the moderation queue.
Without any delay, I reviewed and released the message. This was the "new
word up shortly" message. After releasing that message, I checked he rest of
my e-mail and found that the message I just releassed was already made
redundant by Bill's later messages (that he sent from his other address, and
that therefore were sent out to the group immediately - before his first
message was approved by the moderators).

So there are no ghosts or time-travelling mesages involved after all - just
some delays caused by moderators doing other things besides moderating
<grin>

Best, Hugo

Judy and to make matters worse for me I'm trying to change the email
address I have with Yahoo because I had to close my current account
and open a new one due to a Compuserve problem. Congratulations on
the crown ! Regards, Len [g]

Too bad. It might have made a good mystery novel. LOL!

Thanks for the explanation. I think there is still a bit of a mystery (i.e., messages that I've rec'd don't appear on the Yahoo site first), but I'll deal with that. <G>

For changing Email addresses in Coryphaeus, I recommend writing to Dan
and asking him to do it for you.

Guerri, thanks but I managed to change it myself--I see that my
messages now show the new email address. Regards, Len
