It's been noted that some messages this round didn't show up in "The Parlor"
at tapcis.com. It's a good point to post a reminder of how the
interface/mirroring works.

The 'official' location of the Dixonary game is the googlegroups site. All
posted messages for the game should appear there, and a dealer closing out a
round should check there to make sure he/she has received all postings. For
most other players, they may use the method of their choice (Google group
site, tapcis.com forum, or their own email) with the understanding that
occasional messages are not delivered or are significantly delayed.

When messages are posted at tapcis.com, they are periodically (I think
hourly) sent to the googlegroups website, using a "From" address of the
registered tapcis.com member. If the tapcis.com member is not a member of
the dixonary google group, the message sits in the moderation queue until
one of our 5 group moderators approves it. (Usually no more than a few
hours.)

When messages are sent from the google groups list, they arrive at a mailbox
associated with the tapcis.com website, and are processed into posts,
including attempting to match the thread and obfuscating email addresses.

Some important notes:

1. Threading

Most modern email clients record the "message id" of a previous message when
you use the "Reply" feature. This is helpful for some players whose email
programs thread replies appropriately. The tapcis.com forum also uses
threading information, and uses the subject line as a backup means of
matching messages.

Please do NOT use "Reply" when you are posting a new word, or posting a call
for votes. This can cause the new message to be lost underneath a thread
tree, even if you change the subject. Address a new post to
Dixonary (AT) googlegroups (DOT) com or post the message in the Parlor at tapcis.com.

2. Email obfuscation

By consensus opinion, our google group is visible to the world at large,
with our postings appearing in Google searches. It is therefore unwise to
post personal information (addresses, phone #s, etc.) to the site.

When you include a full email address such as sample (AT) gmail (DOT) com to the list,
it is automatically obfuscated and appears as follows:

- for the general public who might find the post in a google search, and is
NOT a member of the google group (or not logged in) it will appear as:
sample@g...

- at the tapcis.com forum (visible by the general public) the address is
automatically converted to: sample (AT) gmail (DOT) com.

- for group members receiving the post by email, or logged into the google
groups site, the full address is displayed.

Some members try to obfuscate their own email address when posting a call
for definitions. This ends up showing publicly to anyone who might find the
posting in a google search, since the software won't automatically detect
it. So if it was your intent to hide sample at gmail dot com from the
general public, by spelling it out they'll see the entire address just as
you wrote it. This may be the opposite effect of what you intended.

Admirably clear and thorough explanation, Dan.
