We have sixteen definitions. I _think_ the real definition is in
there. Please vote for your two favorites by public message. The votes
will be tallied around 7pm Eastern time on Tuesday. Early poll
projections will be unavailable, but stay tuned to election central
anyway,

1. an old name for the star Aldebaran, Alpha Tauri

2. [Arab.] a hoof, as of a camel.

3. light litter for one passenger

4. railway sleeper; a baulk of timber on which rails were laid

5. [Scot.] dry, dusty

6. [Var. Sp.] weir

7. A piece of plank two yard long and a foot broad.

8. a hooded cloak.

9. a feeding bag for a camel

10. [Can.] a drunken brawl between two groups taking opposite sides,
usually in a tavern or at a private gathering

11. full-bosomed, obs.

12. Art that is created for a specific site, often incorporating
materials
or physical features of the site.

13. A water-tight basket made by North American Indians, often
ornamented with porcupine quills. In cooking, heated
stones are dropped into a wair containing water, until the
water boils.

14. _Archaic_ A sanctuary.

15. fear [O.E.]

16. a bordering hedgerow.

-I'm Bill, and I approve this message.

I vote for 3 and 5.

Guerri

P.S. Shouldn't you have included a "paid for by" item? I.e. paid for the
committee to elect (or re-elect) Bill Hirst.

Hi Bill,

I'll vote for 4 and 16. However, I sent a def last night and it apparently
didn't make the list.

Bill, my def--sent to you last night--is missing from the list. I've just
sent you (privately) a copy of my original, including an indication that it
was successfully dispatched.

My votes are for #14 and #16.

Apparently my def, "raw oysters", was lost in cyberspace.
I'll vote for 7 & 11.

I'm totally confused. WAIR sounds as though it might be Arabic to me,
but on the other hand most of the other look pretty possible too!
I'll hedge my bets:

9 and 13 please.

I'll take the "can't possibly be that simple" answers: 6 and 15.

You didn't get my def either, but that's OK since I didn't send it.

I'll take a dusty camel feedbag - 5 and 9

Early returns show a surge in the disenfranchised definitions. Dealer points to those who lost it in cyberspace. I noticed Google mail has reported some problems. That plus my computer woes allow me to say confidently, "Not my fault, mon."

You won't get any dealer points that way. You have to at least
_pretend_ to send something. I usually claim the dog ate my homework.

The random number generator says #7 and #13.

As of 1:30pm I lost all the data in Autodealer. As of 2:00pm I re-
entered it. I hope I got everybody attached to the right definition,
but I'll go double check it. At this rate it would only take a strong
gust of wind to make Jeb Bush the next dealer. Yeah, once again
Florida has trouble counting the ballots.

You laggards only have another 5 hours to vote.
