For those who care: It's full-moon day. The Hunter's Moon, it's called this
month. The exact moment of full-moon-ness: 4:02 p.m. EDT.

It is also gorgeous. Clouds in front of and around the moon tonight. I don't think I got a decent picture (new lens, no tripod) but it's nice looking anyway.

The Hunter's Moon has other names. In colonial America, it was the
Beaver Moon; in China the White Moon; in Cherokee the Trading Moon; in
Choctaw the Sassafras Moon; in Dakato Sioux the Moon When Horns Are
Broken Off; in Celtic the Dark Moon; in Medieval England the Snow
Moon; in Neo Pagan the Tree Moon; and in New Guinea the Tiger Shark
Moon.

Creatures of the Night must know these things. After all, All Saint's
Eve is coming and the Undead will roam the Earth rattling chains, or
trying to drink your blood, or eat your brains--but they will usually
settle for a few pieces of candy.

Thanks, Bill. In addition to those fascinating tidings, a friend reminds me
of another warning about that time when an "autumn moon is bright" and
certain toxic plants are in bloom.

Very hairy!
