[Dixonary] Heard from Russ?

Has anyone heard from Russ? From his message presenting the word, I
gather that he lives in the area where Ike was expected to make
landfall. I hope Russ and his family are OK, wherever they are.

I've seen nothing yet, Guerri (the deadline for submission of defs was 8
p.m. EDT Friday).

Russ is in, or somewhere very near, Houston, which was indeed reported to
be in Ike's direct path--albeit in nowhere near as much potential danger as
Galveston, which is now likely entirely under water. Even if they're safe
(which of course we all hope), they may not have power.

Russ lives near Houston. Power is out all over that area. I doubt that HE is damaged, but he probably can't communicate.

As noted earlier, Dealer Russ is in or very near Houston.

I was just now (7 p.m. EDT) watching CNN. Anderson Cooper, who is in the
Hurricane Ike area, reports that Galveston, Orange, and Port Arthur have
been very badly hit, but that Houston has suffered only minimal damage,
chiefly glass in downtown streets from blown-out office-building windows,
some trees down, and a bit of flooding.

The water supply may be contaminated, however (people have been advised to
boil water), and two and a half million people in Houston are presently
without power.

I heard a radio report that said individual transformers were going up in smoke one right after the other.
