View Full Version : [Dixonary] [Dictionary] Vote on deadlines

I've voted, although the thing didn't show me the results so far, after I'd voted, as it apparently did others. And it did a lot of stalling, and sent me running around, before it would accept me, my address, or my password. (At one point, it announced that it had no record whatever of such an account.) Yes, I'm technologically retarded, but I really can read and follow instructions.

It eventually sent me NOT to the URL posted but to:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/coryphaeus/surveys?id=1730832

--and that's where I found the poll.

Note the word "games", which didn't appear in the URL given in the announcement of the poll.

I just wanted to add a comment: Using the present deadlines parameters, I found there was no difficulty in everyone's getting a def in. Last time I dealt, i.e. not the current round (defs are still coming in) but two rounds ago, all current players sent in defs, and all but one voted. Didn't seem to be any problems.

It's a slow game--by, um, definition. I don't think we need to make it any slower.

Just my opinion. Of course I'll happily abide by the group's decision.

I signed in with my Yahoo account ID, *not* the Email address to which I
have the messages delivered. Worked fine. Did you see something about
being able to change your vote? Apparently you can do that.

I agree about the deadlines, although I did miss one this last round. It
was long enough, I just didn't happen to collect the message with the
word soon enough. But that's my fault.

And the current status of the voting doesn't really help us. 8 for the
status quo, 7 for "slower".

I think a good compromise would be for dealers to try to be closer to
the 36 hour end of the window than to the 24 hour end, whenever possible.

That's a good idea, Dan, and what I usually do anyway. I tend to 'flex' the
24 to 36 rule upwards for weekends and other circumstances, especially for
def submittals and then if the voting deadline is on the long side use Rule
8(a)2 to bring things to a conclusion.

The 2 urls are synonymous. Which is a good thing, because the author of the poll has no way to change the announcement, because it's automatic.
