If you're talking to me, Guerri: I think you have to ask the poster. My
note simply reported the time that Toni's original arrived in my mailbox
(which CompuServe indicates) and Toni's stated deadline, and the difference
between the two was 36 hours, 45 minutes.

I don't know whether it took five seconds, five minutes, or maybe some
longer time for the posting to reach me--but in any case, she gave us at
LEAST the time noted above.

Dodi, I read the messages on/line via Yahoo--they usually come in
within seconds--the def came in at

Actually, I made them as long as possible within the
rules, and I was thinking that we might want to make
it more like 36 to 48 hours because of "Internet
delay"...

Ah! I was looking at the voting time, not the
def-submission time.

My problem was that I got home at 10 or so, and by the
time I posted, it was 11:30pm. My choices for
deadlines on Tuesday would be either 6am (so I can
post before I leave for work at 8) or 7pm (when I get
home). If I had picked the 7pm time, it would have
been more than the 36-hour maximum. Frankly, I would
rather see 2 days (48 hours) as max.

Toni (who still has to count the votes!!)

Nah... I wasn't even home at 8:24. Just barely landed
at the airport.

True. The 36+ was for the voting. The defs were
under 36 but over 24 (31, as you say)
