Chris, I could swear--and, in fact, DO, since I printed out your defs
list--that your voting deadline was given as, and I quote, "8:00 PM EDT on
Saturday, May 31, 2008, or 5:00 PM PDT."

Your results for the round reached my mailbox at 08:32 this morning.

You seem to have cut off the voting period some 12 hours early; by your own
summary, several regular players hadn't yet voted, including Paul Keating,
Toni Savage, Tony Abell, Scott Crom, and Russ Heimerson.

I don't know how a situation like this is remedied, since both next dealer
and several scores might well have been totally different.

Dodi -

Presumably if the dealer is god, it could be a capricious god on occasion.

I agree with your observation, but would suggest that the only remedy is
to accept that the above may be true, even if not intended, and to move
on with the results obtained.

The other possibility would be to force Chris, through either weight of
authority or numbers, to deal again.

I'm not sure if that would be a good idea, but it is a possibility.

- Chuck

I'd seat them but give them reduced votes. ;)

Argghh! You all are in fact correct. The deadline was 8:00pm. All I can
do is plead brain damage due to overwork and lack of sleep .... or something
like that. My sincere apologies to the players but there's very little I
can do at this point to right the wrong. I won't even invoke the Dealer as
God principle but just throw myself under the OED.

Chris -

I, for one, am very happy about what happened. I already had 8 PM this
evening double booked for a K. D. Lang concert and a friend's 50th
birthday party - and I'd collected enough votes to make me nervous. Not
enough to win, but who knows what might have happened . . .

So, thanks,
