As you may have realised, I haven't dealt for a very long time and
naturally the deal came at a rather awkward time (doesn't it always?),
and then in the short time remaining it seemed easier and safer to do
it manually than download and acquaint myself with software. So be
warned, what follows is subject to human error.

As for the word, my new lesson learned is to check the definition in
more than one dictionary. Mr Chambers said nothing about brewing or
distillation, just the curiously bland definition you see here -
that's what appealed to me. Within minutes of posting the word I got
two likely DQs so I checked with Oxford and almost replaced it, but on
reflection decided to stick with it.

Then I got all those distillery definitions - combine or not? Too
hard, just let them be.

In the end it was the Toni's unusable tract that got the most
attention, plus she picked the real def so she is the unlucky winner
with 7 points. And I'm more than happy to pass the dealer baton to
her.

Good night,

Jim
