Eli's Comin' and he ain't sitting in the shadows of his brother and father any more...<VBG><VBG> indeed. After all he's been through and all the badmouthing he's gotten, it is going to be sweet indeed to have all the Manning family watching and rooting for HIM in the playoffs for a change!

I have firewood ready, the HDTV, the recliner, and the sons. <g>

Can't wait for Sunday. I have firewood ready, the HDTV, the recliner, and the sons. <g>I'll be down at my brother's house (Saturday is when we celebrate my younger nephew's 4th birthday.) So I'll have their recliner, their food, their drink, and my nephews (the almost-seven-year-old football whiz hasn't made his final prediction yet on the game... I'm hoping it isn't just that he doesn't want to tell me!).

Mike,

You should donate your firewood to any Giant fans brave enough to travel to cheese country.

If you like cold, here is the forecast for Sunday in GreenBay!

Mostly sunny. Highs zero to 5 above. West wind 10 to 15 mph in the morning...diminishing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Morning wind chills 25 to 35 below zero.

Becoming mostly cloudy. Lows around 5 below zero. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Gametime should be around -1F.

Sounds like it favors a running game. Good, grind it out football.

I can't wait!

And a chance to put paid to the first perfect season since the Dolphins in 72!Even if we don't succeed, if we keep it close, I'll be happy! (Not thrilled, mind you, but happy.)

...did I just wake up...or did the Giants actually beat the Packers in OT?

They won, a fair and hard fought game...and the Giants wore the Packers out.

On to the Super Bowl...(I can't believe I typed that!)

Judy,

We've got a better defense and a better running game. It will be a gamer imo and I would like nothing better than to knock the Patriots out of their attempt to have a perfect season. Mainly because of their cheatin' heart, ah coach.

Our local news played a short clip from Eddie Murphy's Coming to America. In it, Eddie's character, a recent arrival on our shores, was speaking to his employer.

"Sir, did you watch the professional football game last night?"

"Uh, no."

"Oh, sir, it was wonderful. The Giants of New York won against the Packers of Green Bay by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through two upright poles."

Not that I remember. The TV clip only showed the little part I quoted above, and my CRS may have blocked it if it were elsewhere in the movie.

IMDB says the movie came out in June 1988. In the 1987 football season (http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/results.nsf/Teams/1987-nyg), the Giants played the Packers once, winning 20-10 and played the Patriots once, winning 17-10.

I do suspect that the Giants/Patriots game last month would be more predictive of the upcoming game, i.e., it will be razor close.

(I've already put the mock trial team I coach on notice that our training session on the 3rd is going to end early...)
