Guess I dug this hole for myself.
The word for Round 1874:

= =
= MEDRICK =

Please send any DQs to me instantly. Your inventive "definitions" should
reach me no later than noon eastern US time on Saturday 12 January. (All by
e-mail, lastname at compuserve dot com.)
As usual, no looking in dictionaries or other word listings on or off line
till after you've voted in the second part of the round.

A typical mispronunciation of our last name. <nad> (Seriously, you would be amazed at the number of people who say "Madrick" or "Medrick.")

Dodi,
Amusingly, while giving my email address to some company or other over the
phone, I told them "My last name, widdis, at gmail dot com." They ended up
typing in: mylastnamewiddis (AT) gmail (DOT) com
Quality customer service reps are being hired these days.

Dan, quoting my "...by e-mail, lastname at compuserve dot com," writes
that:
>> ...while giving my email address to some company or other over the
>> phone, I told them "My last name, widdis, at gmail dot com." They
>> ended up typing in: mylastnamewiddis (AT) gmail (DOT) com
Hey, at least it wasn't "...geemaledot.com."

I remember reading a letter to a magazine by someone called Clarke, who once
gave her name over the phone as "Clarke, with an E", only to have the
invoice come back addressed to Clark-Withaney.

I, for obvious reasons, have tried various things over the years to insist on my final "s". Two amusing outcomes have been
1. that I once grumpily observed to a friend who forgot it that my name has an "s" on the end - his response was immediate and to
special friends I have ever since been known as Johns Barr (and the pair of us as Johns and Jills Barr)
2. I have received letters to "The Right Honorable The Plural Barr" (I do not deserve the Right Hon as I am not and never will be a
member of the Privy Council) I can find no trace of such a rank as "The Plural" - not even on wikipedia <vbgdr>
