Here are 16 tempting definitions for CLOIT, one of which actually
came from my dictionary. Please give in to two of those
temptations, i.e., cast your votes for, no later that 0800

this message.

Enjoy!

1. A hole through the platform surrounding the upper part of a

2. A loop-in-slot closing, as on a door or chest, designed to
be secured by a separate padlock.

3. _v.i._ To fall heavily; _n._ A heavy fall; _adv._ Heavily;
with a thud. _All Scot._

4. In English Common Law, a hearing held in private or in the
absence of the jury.

5. Collective term for a flock of Canada Geese (Branta
canadensis).

6. An extra storage reservoir under the nib of a fountain pen.

7. A plug used to seal off an underground stream in a mine.

8. A small enclosed space such as a closet or cupboard.

9. Hideous or deformed of face, as with a harelip.

10. A kind of nail used in shoeing horses.

11. A small box used to hold toiletries.

12. A set of tabs for file folders.

13. Armour for a horse's breast.

14. An external boundary.

15 and 16 both sound impossible.

My votes, to #4 and #10. I'm sure one of them is right.

But then, I'm usually wrong.

11 and 14 are bound to be right this time. The voices from my bathtub
drain said so, right before "KKKKKK-k-k-k-k-k-k-k--kkkkkKk--k."

As I have a love/hate relationship with my local flock of Canada Geese
(they love my lawn, I just hate them) I ought to vote for 5. However,
I'll go for the thump and the nail:

3 and 10 please.

3 and 16 because I've just fallen heavily for the wrong defs and been led
astray.

3 and 15 for no earthly reason other than getting back from dringing
4200 miles on vacation ... (acutally my wife did most of the driving )

Scott -

A nicely varied selection, I'll try -

7. A plug used to seal off an underground stream in a mine.

and

13. Armour for a horse's breast.

Thanks,

Chuck

Dringing and driving again? That could get you in trouble.
