Our inventive players have concocted all but one of the (only!) 13 definitions
for SCYTODEPSIC presented below for your edification and entertainment.
The remaining definition is, believe it or not, real.

Please vote for the two you think the best . . . for whatever reason.
You can do this whether or not you have not submitted a definition
and whether or not you have played before. You're not allowed to
vote if you know the right answer.

Vote by public reply to this message, by the deadline, which is on Saturday,
August 11, 2007, at 9 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

1. [bot.] exuding sap.
2. Merely mechanical; routine.
3. Frantic, disturbed, frightened.
4. (of plants) having no chlorophyl.
5. One who is consistently discontented.
6. Given to spells or fits of not speaking.
7. Of, like, or pertaining to tanning leather.
8. Full of wind; windy; of an egg, malformed.
9. Having congenitally deformed fingers or toes.
10. Becoming more viscous with increasing temperature.
11. 1. Having a variety of colors; variegated. 2. Changing in color;
iridescent.
12. Having leaves arranged in a spiral around the branch, typically
three or five leaves per rotation.
13. 1. having an alcohol base; astringent. 2. (fig., of courts or
judicial decisions) spare, strictly construed.

Good luck!

Somebody's been hanging out at Phrontistery again...

I find myself frantic, disturbed, frightened. Also perplexed, bothered, and
bewildered. Not to mention becoming more viscous.

I shall, on no basis whatever, choose #2 and #10.

4 and 12 are both correct.

hmmm..only 13?

And I made it through a flood!

I'll take 9 and 10-- sorta at random, but I like them.

I'll throw mine to 3 and 6.

(I am a victim of another short deadline to submit defs! If not
actually shorter than usual in actual clock-time, then shorter in
execution!)

I am discontented with exuding sap. 5 and 1 please. Besides, all the
others are correct; the Magic 8-Ball said "Answer blocked by Homeland
Security" so you know it's true. They wouldn't block it if there
wasn't something to hide.

Something funny is going on with the Google Dixonary Group website.
First the def I sent to you using the "Reply to author" link on the
website clearly didn't get through. Second, the group home page tells
me there are 11 new messages in this thread, yet when I open it I only
see your message and Dodi's reply. The latest email digest has
another 5 replies, and the Tapcis .com website has your message and 10
replies.

Anyway, enough of all that. I'll vote for the astringent judicial
decision and the colours:

11 and 13 please.

That's using the numbering in the first list in your message rather
than the second one

Huh? The deadline was approximately 31 hours from the posting. Or am I missing the point??

I've never used that feature, so I just did the same thing by "replying to author" using my posting of the definitions and received the message jsut fine. What is the appropriate number of dealer points for something like this -- two????

Arrrggghhh! I thought I had deleted the second list. I hope no one else went to that second list!!

Mike, there was no text in your message! Just an indication that it was
toting two binary attachments. (I've got TAP set not to bring me those.)

Beats the heck out of me. I think I voted for 2 and 6.

Yes, you did. I did not receive the blank message to which Dodi referred.

That's the usual number and would be much appreciated.

Did you get the copy of my original message that I sent to your
gmail.com address today? If you didn't, you might want to check your
spam filter, if you have one.

>> And I see all of them. Very strange . . . <<

I can see them all now, so something has changed (for the better!).

Dixonary email goes directly to my gmail mailbox. The only email I rec'd from you was the one you sent to the group. Did you send an email directly to jmadnick (AT) gmail (DOT) com? If so, no, I didn't receive it, and, no, it's not in my spam email.

5 and 8, because I often am both.

You did vote for 2 and 6. Interestingly, I have been playing around with
the View within Thunderbird. Some messages, here and elsewhere, were
showing up with odd font sizes, so I had set my view to "plain text".
When I view your voting message that way, I see
Dixonary: Definitions - scytodepsicI like 2 and 6.
which is odd. When I use the "original HTML" view, I see just the "I
like..." part.

Thanks for the DP.

I forwarded a copy of my def message directly (not through the
website) to jmadnick snail gmail.com on Fri 10/08/2007 at 15:40 BST
(10:40 EDT). It's most odd that it didn't arrive.

Very odd. I trust that "snail" = "@." <G>
