Yes, I thought that everyone used that word for
"packing peanuts", and that it was made up recently...
I think it was my sister who first told me that word,
so I wrote her with the list...jhere's what she said:

Well, one of the definitions below I found by
Googling "nurdle definition", but got 340 hits, with a
lot of different definitions. One that pops up more
often than the one below is that of a small dollop of
toothpaste (or similar substance), and was popularized
by ADA or a toothpaste company or such as the amount
to use for one brushing. Another is something in
Cricket, which I didn't understand. Urban dictionary
has 3 definitions, none of which are in the list
below. I have no idea how many of them pre-date
Styrofoam(r).

I was amused by the editorial note at this site:

Certainly not in MY neighborhood, Johnny.

Of course I can't speak for points farther west. Or south.

Never heard of gurning!
and I can speak for points west AND south (California,
Colorado, New Mexico, Tennessee and Georgia, at
least!)

Dodi

We have been around long enough so that little things please little minds - either that or we have become inbred
