friends of Tuva & Richard Feynmann

QUOTE

Friends of Tuva (FoT) was conceived by accident in 1981 to commemorate Tuva's 60th anniversary as a distinctive splotch on the world globe. Because FoT is a brainchild of Ralph Leighton, it is impossible that it could even resemble an organization. Rather, it has been a clearinghouse of information about Tuva and its "patron saint," Richard Feynman, who collected Tuvan stamps as a boy — and as an adult wondered,

"Whatever happened
to
Tannu Tuva?"

FoT is unfunded and so has no affiliation with any government or religious institution. As there are no dues, meetings, or even a membership list, those who would like to consider themselves as Friends of Tuva should simply spread the word about this magical country, and celebrate Richard Feynman's spirit of adventure.

Actually I don't know much about American popular music.

I'm amazed at how many lyrics and melodies of Vietnamese songs that my wife knows and can sing by heart, but she does like John Denver once in a while, too.

"It was his outsized love for life, however, that earned him the status of an American cultural icon - here was an extraordinary intellect devoted to the proposition that the thrill of discovery was matched only by the joy of communicating it to others."

Back in the early 70's I saw a film produced by National Science Foundation in which Georg Polya gave a lecture on how to solve math problems. By that time he was elderly and also remarked that while he wasn't making new discoveries, he still enjoyed reliving the paths to discovery with students.
