Okay, so it has nothing to do with Dixonary, but since you all have
demonstrated the ability to vote, can you help my wife and I resolve our
naming dilemma for future Dix player #3?

Muchos Gracias. :)

I think a lovely name for a boy would be "Wayne." For a girl, "Wynne."

What a difficult choice! I've voted, but the results page produced an
error message.

Dan,

That site seems to have some idiosyncracies concerning voting. When I tried
to add a comment and went to 'Preview Comment' it led me to a page that
wanted me to join or log in. Since joining seemed targeted to expectant
mothers I tried to exit and probably cancelled the voting attempt. Anyway,
I cast my vote for Arabella due in part to the nickname potential. Juliana
will more than likely end up a Julie or an Ana whereas the only apparent
potential for Arabella is Bella which has almost as nice a ring as the
original. (And please no cries of outrage from Julies or Anas out there).

Whichever you choose, best wishes for a safe and healthy baby at or near
full term. My daughter is a NICU nurse here and hopefully, you guys won't
have any call for her services.

Cheers,

Chris

The only advice I've got is to choose a name that is obviously whatever
sex the baby is and is easy to spell and pronounce. I think some of the
"old-fashioned" names are starting to come back in style now.

Maybe for #4. :)

Dan, some folks have indicated that they weren't sure their votes were
registered. I didn't have any doubts about that, but comments were invited,
and after I'd added one, a click on "preview comment" took me NOT to
anything about comments but to a subscription screen.

Anyway: I'm in what appears to be the majority (Juliana), and I pointed out
that I don't think the similarity between ANNEliese and JuliANA need
concern you (Juliana will be known as "Julie" for short, not "Ana") but,
rather, future confusion between the full names. I.e., on a hand-addressed
envelope, poor handwriting could lead to confusion between "Anneliese" and
"Arabella." I didn't add, but it strikes me now, that there could be even
greater confusion between initials/monograms, with AKW and ARW looking VERY
much alike. And third: I just LIKE "Juliana" better. ;-)

P.S.: I just read in today's paper that Julianna (I do prefer your one-N
spelling) Margulies, who played Clooney's love early in "ER," will be
starring in a new legal drama this fall on Fox....

Thanks for your detailed comments. Quite helpful. I'll probably cave
to my wife's preference.

I liked the original Law & Order. Now there's a few flavors of that,
a few flavors of CSI, Numb3rs, Cold Case, Without a Trace, and just
about everything else to scare the wits out of you.

How many different legal dramas do we need?

Dan, I tend to look at names mostly on the basis of (a) how easy it will be for Mom or Dad to scream out the kid's full name: "Sebastian Ebeneezer Doolittle, stop that right now!" and (b) how it will sound if the kid ever decides to run for President. On those grounds, I voted for Juliana too.

Errr... I do assume you're quite certain she will be a she. Juliana will be a very odd name for a boy.

Quite certain. We did one of those 3D/4D ultrasound thingies and
there is no doubt. (Amazing technology, btw!)

Yeah, but it's getting a bit tired now, eh. Even its spinoffs are dragging
(and L&O:CI is in fact being moved off network; strictly cable, come
fall).

Well, Numb3rs and W/O a Trace are FBI, not legal, and the others are cops..
Shark's legal (and IMO good)--and of course Boston Legal is the best and in
a whole 'nother category of its own.

What's sad is that Crossing Jordan has been killed--along with Raines with
Jeff Goldblum, an offbeat cop drama that was barely given a chance.

That it is. My brother and his wife did that with Thing 2 (a/k/a Duncan) and it's astounding how clear the imaging is.

If a penis shows, it's pretty certain it's a boy. If no penis shows, it is
USUALLY a girl, but sometimes the penis is hidden by a leg, arm or torso.

went.

If a penis shows, it's pretty certain it's a boy.

Or, as my brother so colorfully put it with the image of son #2, "The baby has a twig and two raisins."
