Outstanding photos, especially meaningful to the owners of Bearded Collies like the one featured: http://www.stridingedge.net/index.html

Beautiful country...Isn't it, though? I can't decide where I want to go next: your Grand Canyon or his Lake Country. We have a CIS-er in the Lake Country with an Inn, do we not?

We do indeed -- Kelvyn would be a fabulous host, I'm sure.

Sigh... I made the mistake of looking at their dinner menu... and am drooling on the keyboard...

drooling on the keyboard...I wonder what the weather is like in August -- I owe myself a vacation.

It should be gorgeous... at least that's my experience with August in the Lake Country. (And Scotland. Two solid weeks. And the only day it rained was the day I drove nonstop from northern Scotland to just outside Heathrow since I was flying home the next day.)

Better book soon! August is the traditional holiday month in most of Europe.

<Hand up> I've stayed with Kelvyn .... though it was at his old place, not the new venture (new :p must be 8 years now!).

Personally I would tend to go to the Lake District at a time other than August simply because if it's hot( which it is quite likely to be), I'd probably find the walking hard, hot & wish I was somewhere else.

<note to US citizens - it's District, Lake Country doesn't ring a bell here in UK>

More stunning photos from the Lake District. The second page probably includes the location of Kelvyn's inn! (Near Keswick and Derwent water.)

Hmmm... I may have to post some photos to get Kelvyn to help identify the subjects. I took them some years ago and stupidly forgot to label things when I got home...
