I travelled from NYC to San Diego (a six-hour flight) late Saturday, and settled into my hotel room at 3am, according to my Blackberry. Now, my BB does not reset itself accorfding to time zone, although my cell phone DOES. I was half asleep, and I couldn''t remember what my tech had told me about daylight time on my BB.
I had to get up for a 7:30am breakfast meeting, so I set the Blackberry alarm trying to figure out the safest time to set it for in order to be up by 6:30am. I set it for 8:25am.

The alarm went off in the middle of the night, and I looked at the hotel clock. It said 4:25.
Now I'm even MORE fuzzy-brained, and I have NO idea what time it is wheerever I am. My cell phone said 5:25. But, did Verizon have issues with daylight time? I decided to get some more votes on the time and turned on the TV. The TV cable time (the little red letters that tell you the channel and time) said 4:27, but the local news program said 5:27. I began to vaguely remember downloading something on my BB that would handle the new daylight time, so I set it one hour later, and actually managed to make it to breakfast almost on time....

PS: I'm still mixed up... and I'm not even at home (I'll have to run around and fix most of them... except for the two that I left on Daylight time last fall <grin>.)
Right now I'm on my laptop, and it says 1:09 am. The hotel bedside clock says 10:09. My Blackberry says 2:09, and my cellphone says 11:09.

I obvioulsy haven't updated my laptop's software. Question is, if I do it now, will it move the time or not?

Toni: Most hotels, especially the fine hotels you would frequent, have a
service in which you pick up the phone, dial "0" and say to the operator,
"Please call me at 5:25 AM." Then you don't have to battle this sort of
thing.
By the way, I just got home from Kona, HI. Hawaii does not observe daylight
saving time, however, trying to arrange for the Shuttle to get me home was
something of a trial. I finally arrived in my driveway at 1:45 AM Sunday
morning. For some reason (age 85?) I don't adjust to that sort of thing as
well as I used to.

Just wait 3 weeks and it will all be better. :)

Toni -

Have you considered purchasing a sundial and a small plastic sextant? No
help if it's cloudy, of course. It's great when every participant in a
voting system returns a different answer. At least you could be reasonably
sure how many minutes past the hour it was. Looks like it's good enough
that you made Sunday, let alone breakfast.

Wasn't there a time when it was expected one would be "fashionably late"?

Ahh, the good old days.

Humbug. I am some years your junior and you're in better shape than I am!
