Just wanted to give everyone a first-hand report...
I cannot remember the last time I witnessed such an outpouring of love and grief as I did today here in Gary's beloved Minnesota. The funeral home was literally overflowing. The area where the books are usually left for people to sign had to be cleared for extra chairs to accommodate all the people who came to bid Gary farewell. The service was filled with laughter and tears as people remembered Gary at his best and sorrowed over his loss. We all learned a little bit about Gary that we didn't know before (that statement was repeated over and over, by everyone) but everything we learned was completely consistent with what we DID know -- that the one thing he loved to do, and did so well, was help other people.
There is no question but that his computer friends were very much a part of his family, and that he will be missed by us all.
