Does anyone know anything about this printer? One of my sisters has one that is about 2 years old. It has stopped working. I tried to get information on what happened but am not sure that this is accurate. Initially, she tried to print something, and nothing happened, so she went into "utilities" and got a message that certain parts were at the end of their service or words to that effect. Now, I believe she has a Mac. She said that for awhile she could still get it to work but now when she turns it on the lights flash.
I went to the Epson web site and followed the troubleshooting guide as best I could. There are two lights that flash, the paper light and the ink light. She says her manual indicates that this means there's an internal error. The online troubleshooting guide says to check for a paper jam or other obstruction and if that doesn't help, check whether the ink cartridge cover is completely closed. Either of these would obstruct the print head. If neither of those cures the problem, call the customer service number.
She already called the customer service number and they said they no longer provide telephone support for that model and she should go online.
She is assuming this is planned obsolescence and that she'll be forced to buy a new printer. I'm wondering if there's something simple wrong, like a bad spring or other part that can be replaced.
