Admittedly this doesn't happen very often, but it's now happened twice
within just 2 or 3 weeks. I am starting to think that I should change
the Email address to which group messages are delivered to something
other than my tapcis.com address. Dan, Paul, anyone ... do you think
that's a good idea?

My plan would be to give myself a google mail address just for the
group and use that. Does anyone else use Gmail to receive messages
from the group? If so, have there been any problems?

When we were on vacation, I had all my email forwarded to gmail because of its huge capacity. At first I thought I had missed some messages (the off-topic ones at one point) but then realized that they were actually threaded and appeared in one message! I am still having my email forwarded to gmail -- but now that I'm at home, my email program picks them up from gmail.

There are several features that I really like. For example, I have several email addresses, and I now have all of them forwarded to gmail. I can choose what return address to use when I send emails from gmail so I can be consistent. For example, I use my Road Runner address for Dixonary. I don't get nearly as much spam in gmail as I receive at my Yahoo! account, and the filtering seems to be quite good.

Hope this helps . . . a little!

Admittedly this doesn't happen very often, but it's now happened twice within just 2 or 3 weeks.

My subscription was suspended, too--and it happens regularly. Add that to CompuServe's spam-trashing 50% of the messages from Yahoogroups anyway and you can see why trying to play via email doesn't work for me anymore.

I sat out the last round because I didn't have time or inclination to put up with the sluggish interfaces of either tapcis.com or the Yahoogroups web site.

My plan would be to give myself a google mail address just for the group and use that. Does anyone else use Gmail to receive messages from the group? If so, have there been any problems?

I can see how you could send yourself an invitation at another non-Gmail address, but can you invite a Gmail address to open a Gmail account? Seems unlikely. (I have a Gmail account, but rarely use it.)

Sure can. I have several accounts now that I've invited myself to. Nice to
have a throwaway address to dump once the spam catches up to it.

I would send a Gmail invitation to my tapcis.com Email address or
failing that, to my Yahoo Email address. I am ambivalent about making
the change because most of the time things work well via Email and of
course changing it means some work has to be done on my part.

I am surprised that CompuServe trashes so many of the messages. Spam has
really ruined things for us!

Doesn't CompuServe's spam trap have a whitelist feature? Stuff from Yahoo
groups regularly ends up in my spam filter but all I have to do is whitelist
that sender, so it's only a problem when players switch email addresses.

My memory of CompuServe is that members have no control over the spam
filtering. If you know that certain messages are not getting through,
you can complain but if you're missing messages, you might not know. Of
course, I have not used CompuServe Email in ages, so that may have changed.

Momma knows best, eh? Hmph.

No wonder Tony is so grumpy about not getting messages.
