This came fair to being one of those bad-tempered rounds when players
complain that their defs or votes went astray. I did wait 4 hours, and
then I went to the Yahoo group and to tapcis.com to make sure that no
obvious votes were missed; but if I got it wrong, please regard it as
my misfortune rather than my fault.

The winner of round 1778 is Tim Bourne, whose definition "stonework,
usually rectangular in section, providing vertical separation between
two columns or other architectural features" earned a natural 6.

Chuck Emery takes coveted second place with 5 points. And there were 5
players in runner-up position with 3 points: John Barrs, Bill Hirst,
Mike Shefler, Dave Cunningham and Toni Savage.

The true definition was 6: "(_dialect_) to swell [perh connected with
_plump_]" (Chambers 9ed), which 4 perceptive players guessed.
