Judy, no votes from you ever appeared, as far as I'm concerned (I just
looked back over what I received on the round; all of the other votes
reached my mailbox, including Paul's delayed ones, which Dan has
explained).

Yes, I do know that. Oh, well. It doesn't affect me -- and if those for whom I voted don't care, so be it.

Judy,

I think per our group consensus, if your original message eventually finds
its way to the list (I've seen that happen after 24-48 hours sometimes!)
we'll count it for scoring. But just saying you sent a message doesn't
count, unfortunately for the recipients of your votes.

I'd go on and on about yahoogroups reliability here, but I think we've been
there, done that. :)

I guess the moral of this tale is to always make sure your votes arrive
in your in box if playing by Email or at the group or tapcis.com if
playing that way (sigh). And for definitions, I suppose as dealers we
have to acknowledge receipts somehow. I know this time I posted a
status, but I never acknowledged definitions that arrived after that.

Guerri (and others)

When I posted the new word last night it didn't come to me as a list member - my own messages usually do arrive back within seconds.
So after about 20 minutes I 'visited' the group - ie not logged in - by clicking on the link 'visit the group' in an email. My
browser wasn't loaded so the link had to load the browser. Before the browser completed loading - even before it appeared on screen
and the disk was still beavering away the message arrived in my inbox - and when browser loaded the cory page I could see the
message was there (posted 19 minutes earlier)

I just posted a reply to Guerri on the rendering of zero topic while I was onsite and it took about seven-minutes to appear in the
list of messages - I was running two versions of the group, "the page you get to when you clip 'to visit your group" shows "most
recent messages" - and they are not numbered. My onsite reply to Guerri was there in that window pretty quickly but did not appear
in the other version (looking at messages) for another few minutes and I was refreshing every 30 seconds and running on zero cache

Yup!

It's been a long time since I dealt, but I believe I used to send a quick "Thanks" as the definitions arrived. It's probably not a bad idea to do that.

Just FYI, the original new word announcement never came to my email box (which
is not in itself surprising, since fewer than half of those sent from
Yahoogroups do), nor has it ever appeared on tapcis.com. So this particular
message seems to have made it only to the Yahoogroups.com website, which I
rarely visit.

The re-posting of the new word by Judy both arrived in my mailbox and appeared
on tapcis.com.

It seems a dealer is now obligated to monitor the two web sites as well as an
email account.

The announcement of RABATO *did* come to my Email. And I think Judy must
have gotten it as well because she repeated the message for Dodi's benefit.

I don't know that I'd want to put a burden on the dealer. People who
play regularly will be on the lookout for new words shortly after the
conclusion of a round and will ask publicly if they don't see one announced.

This is getting to be too much like work. <sigh>

I received Johnny's original message from Yahoo timed at 20.20.47 GMT; it
appeared to have been posted to Yahoo just 7 minutes earlier.

On my recent deal I believe I received everything by email that was posted in
either place, and as far as I know everyone received everything that I posted,
except for Wayne's problem which appeared to be more general during that round.
I always post by email only, to the Yahoo group. I did check on Tapcis before
announcing the result, but there was nothing there that I had not received by
email.

Best wishes,

Are you sure they're not sitting in some spam filter? I always have to check
mine before posting defs or votes.
