Yes, it's very annoying. What I do is either a "save as" (d:\*.*) or go to "My Computer" and "drag and drop" (using "copy," not "move") to avoid the scenario you have described. (You have to chose "Folders" to do this.)

USB to parallel port adapters are very iffy, sometimes they work but more often they don't. The best solution is a PC Card parallel port adapter. They're more expensive but they are far more reliable. Same goes for USB to serial cables/adapters.

I can't remember exactly what I did to write to the CD. I thought I just
selected the files I wanted to copy, then dragged them to the CD and
said "copy", but maybe not.
