I haven't upgraded to 7 yet. Any downside?

Not really provided you remember it is after all Microsoft - you have already missed the first panic upgrades... I am merely
grateful that there are fewer and fewer sites that *demand* use of IE

Judy,

I've been using IE7 since it was in beta and like it very much. I've only encountered one website that didn't work with it - a site cobbled together from borrowed code by a bunch of 'script kiddies' that was in use at my former workplace. Tabbed browsing becomes quickly addictive to the point wehre you'll wonder how you ever did without it. A recent review in one of the magazines indicates that while Firefox 2.0 still has a slight edge, IE7 gets high marks.

Chris and Johnny:

Thanks for your input regarding IE 7. I had tried Firefox at one time and went crazy with the tabs. I guess they take some getting used to. One of these days when I'm bored, I'll have to try IE 7.

Thanks again!

I personally don't like the new location of the "back" button and
other small GUI changes, but I'm told by IE7 regulars that you "get
used to it" and prefer the new arrangement eventually.

I'm sticking with my Firefox 2.0 with Adblock, however. An ad-free
internet can't be beat.

I ***love*** the tabs in Firefox. I didn't know what to do with them at
first, but once I started using them, it drove me nuts to have to use IE.

Judy Madnick Because of the fact that MS IE was so tightly tied to Windows as a part of MS effort to monopolize the browser market, there are many programs that make use of parts of MS IE that may or may not work with IE 7 or may not be officially supported with MS IE 7. Therefore unless you are sure that you have no such programs, it might be wise to wait a few months to allow other software manufacturers to fully adapt.

BTW the MS critical updates for Nov have been released and at least one of the fixes is a critical security hole in MS IE. I assume that MS IE 6 will still get the fixes if you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. I have MS IE 6, but MS no longer distributes automatic fixes/updates for Win 98, which I have, but I don't feel I am in great danger because I rarely use MS IE, and then only on well known reputable sites.

I can be patient (sometimes <G>).

I get all updates automatically, so if one was available, I'm all set.

I like them as well. It's certainly possible to use Firefox without
ever using the tabs, but I wonder why anyone ever would!
