Only 14 defs -- but all of them very believable! Kindly vote for any two hereof before 8 p.m. EST on Friday November 3, 2006. As always, all errors are the fault of the dealer.

1. an overweening braggart.

2. [Obs.] Bent or crooked; crippled.

3. a thing of little or no value.

4. the larval stage of a sea anemone.

5. _Med.__ persistent hiccough.

6. a barb of a feather used to make an artificial fishing fly.

7. Animal excrement; dung.

8. Brimless fur hat worn by Mongolian nomads.

9. To vex; to annoy; to startle.

10. a small rodent of eastern Africa.

11. The note sounded on a hunting horn to announce the death of a deer.

12. _obs._ a breakdown (sc. of machinery); _dial._ a barrier; a hindrance [OE styrian 'move', 'disturb']

13. A semi-permanent house made by covering the walls of a traditional felt yurt with clay and mud. [< Sir Edmund Hillary, 1957]

14. A near circular or oval-shaped flat area which is enclosed and delimited by a boundary earthwork that usually comprises a ditch with an external bank.

I'll go with the dung, and the vexation, which will be #7 and #9.

I'm feeling broken down, flat and enclosed this morning, so 12 and 14.

Apologies to Johnny Barrs -- I really did goof up on his! Meanwhile -- I *just* got a couple defs in this morning. Timestamps show nothing really odd -- they apparently just didn't get sorted into my mailbox until now (sigh).

Of what did arrive, I'll choose 2 and 12, both of which appear to
describe the current email service.

Best wishes,

Looks like of 4 missing defs, 3 were never received by Dave. Perhaps
bellsouth has a spam filter and STURT has something to do with SPAM...

Tim,

Your def arrived this morning -- I think Bellsouth has a major stomachache of some sort :(

At this point -- Bellsouth is minus 6 dealer points ... Barrs' def was absolutely my own stupidity.

It certainly seems that way. I wasn't prepared to point a
finger, as I had no idea where the problem might be.
