It's Round 1752, the word is HORST, and a clutch of extremely clever defs
have landed in my mailbox from Tony Abell, John Barrs, Chris Carson, Scott
Crom, Dave Cunningham, Bob Danielson, Chuck Emery, Russ Heimerson, Bill
Hirst, Hugo Kornelis, Kathryn Lance, Tim Lodge, Judy Madnick, Toni Savage,
Mike Shefler, and Bob Stone.

If your name's not there, I haven't received a def from you. If that's
because you haven't yet sent one: well? If you DID send one and you're not
listed: uh-oh; better send it again!

You have until 10 a.m. EDT today, Saturday.

The word for Round 1997, as previously announced, is GLEG, and thus far, a
piquant assortment of persuasive "definitions" have arrived from Tony Abel,
Johnny Barrs, Tim Bourne, Chris Carson, Scott Crom, Dave Cunningham, Chuck
Emery, Paul Keating, Tim Lodge, Judy Madnick, Nancy Shepherdson, Guerri
Stevens, Dick Weltz, and Dan Widdis.

If you haven't yet sent yours: You have just about 12 hours left to do so;
the deadline's 10 p.m. EDT today. If you have, but your name's not on the
list above--assume it's gone missing and needs to be dispatched again.
Reminder: Do NOT reply directly to this message; your def goes to me by
private e-mail.

I've been having fits with my laptop, but I'd like to try to get back into THE GAME with a definition for gleg.
"a small cairn of stones used to mark a trail."
Bon chance!

That's a nice def, Wayne! Now, you need to teach your misbehaving
laptop to (a) not post defs publicly and (b) note the dates on
messages with deadline warnings; that deadline for this round's
defs was last evening, and most folks have already voted. If your
naughty machine can be persuaded to deliver the list of defs to you,
do vote; the deadline for *that* is 10 a.m. West Coast time on
Thursday. Hoping all goes well; we've missed you!

Welcome back, Wayne. I too have been struggling with a misbehaving
computer, so you have my sympathy!

The word is PHENAKISM, and at this writing a variety of inventive
definitions have arrived in my mailbox from Tony Abell, Johnny Barrs, Glen
Boswell, Tim Bourne, Dave Cunningham, Chuck Emery, Steve Graham, Matthew
Grieco, Keith Hale, Tim Lodge, Efrem Mallach, Millie Morgan, and Guerri
Stevens.

If your name's missing from that list, either you're still thinking about
it or the def you sent went astray on its way here. In either case, you
have about seven and a half hours to send or re-send; deadlines, below.

Reminder: Do NOT hit reply to this message; if you do, your def will be
seen by one and all and will have to be tossed and you'll have to come up
with a new one. Write a new e-mail, directed to my address.

Your deadlines, again: 2 p.m. PDT, 4 p.m. CDT, 5 p.m. EDT, 10 p.m. in
England, 11 p.m. in the Netherlands, and 7 a.m. Thursday in Victoria.
