Chuck Emery hasn't been playing for close to two months now. Did he say
something about being away for a while? I don't recall any such, but...

No, I didn't formally check out for my down time, it just sort of
crept up on me. After losing a consultant who worked for our company
for the last 11 years earlier this year things have been rather hectic
and reached a peak in August, when I let things go a bit. The
business requirements eased up for one day.

Then I was away early in September in Los Angeles to visit my mother,
whose Alzheimer's had become progressivly worse after moving to
assisted living. I spent nearly all my waking hours with her for just
over a week, although she was only semi-aware most of the time. When
they put her on morphine I returned home but did not pick up my
correspondence. A return trip for a week late in September was
necessary for her memorial service and scattering her ashes at sea.

Things are evening out a bit, although I'm still catching up for the
time I've been away, and I must appologize for this late reply as
changes in my spam filtering (I was up to 300 a day) meant I lost your
original message and need to thank Tim for pointing this out to me.

Oddly, his reminder echoed my def into public space and I still got 5
votes. Bizarre. Nice welcome back, anyway.

Hope all is well with you,

Chuck

I'm very sorry to hear about your mom. You can take comfort in knowing that you were there for her, and even though she was "only semi-aware," I'm sure she sensed your presence.

My condolences also, Chuck. My mom died of Alzheimer's three years ago, and
memories of her last months are still painful.

Oh, Chuck, I'm so sorry about your Mom. I can remember the time you visited us with your Mom& Dad. On the other hand my children & I were glad when my Marion was released from her Alzheimer's.

Chuck, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Alzheimer's is a
terrible disease! My mother had it, and now my father has a different
sort of dementia, although his allows him very lucid days from time to
time. It is very hard to see them decline, and in essence lose themselves.
