I was a little surprised that no one submitted a definition playing on the Spanish fondón (big-bottomed), which is possibly a cognate (from Latin fundus) of the real meaning of a large copper vessel for amalgamation. Both Dave Cunningham and John Barrs guessed the correct definition. Kathryn Lance and Scott Crom are tied with a natural 5 each, but Scott Crom's bottle pocket earns him the deal since he's ahead in the rolling scores. Congrats to the real winner, Kathryn!

Take it away, Scott...

Alas -- it was my poor def which had gotten into the mangle ... what I found weird is that the real def comes from "fondant"!
