I've been up and down the list three times, and I don't believe any of
them. Or, I believe all of them. Really confusing.

I guess I'll go with #1 and #10.

Can I vote for three? I didn't think so.

Well, okay, I guess I'll go for one of the grossest, the bath of blood, and
the one with the really well-worked out etymology, which I don't think is
the actual def, but it deserves points for cleverness. That would be 12 and
18, please.

1 and 18, for the long and the short of it.

Tim Lodge <iel7j001 (AT) sneakemail (DOT) com> wrote:

1: refuse from winemaking.

18: 1. n. short stabbing spear used to sacrifice the oxen on the
beach [Gk. (in Homer) Xreo- to sacrifice + bole - javelin, short
spear] 2. specifically in Christian theology, the spear used to
pierce Christ on the cross. [Gk Xristos + bole; Xristos comes from
Xreo]

Tim

I have changed my mind completely while writing this email (twice) because there are about seventeen that I want to vote for so....
Its rethink time - again (again)

There is a lot of direct and indirect etymolgy here, so I am going to avoid it all and go for slovovitz with popcorn

#7 and #9 please

JohnnyB
