Dixons,

my real def generated a fascinating sideline on ligatures - I wish I hadn't tried so hard to put the ligature in - but as Roberta
also voted for it I got a D2 ...

I mixed myself up on timing and posted the defs just early enough to miss Hugo's def - which was actually in time - so he gets 2 DP

And the next deal is for Guerri Stevens with 4 natural points, Dan had 4 un-natural points

It's been so long since I played (I don't even know HOW long-but years, I
think-that I don't remember the difference between natural and unnatural
points. Can someone please explain? Thanks.

Natural = from votes.

Unnatural = 2 points for getting the real def plus the rest votes.

Natural beats unnatural in the tiebreaker... good for me this round!

Hi John,

Because you've given me more points than my defs garner on average, I'll
forgive yoou the typo in my name. This time.

Best, Hugo

Nooooooooooooo!

This may be the worst possible time to become the dealer. Here is my
problem: I am scheduled to fly to Orlando on Wednesday in order to
celebrate my father's 93rd birthday with him on Thursday and spend a few
days visiting.

Storm Ernesto may also be heading that way. If Ernesto beats me, and my
airline cancels my trip, I have no problem, since I'll be home with my
own computer and software, and electricity presumably still flowing
through the wires.

If my flight is not cancelled and I actually get to Orlando, there are
another couple of scenarios. The most favorable would be that Ernesto
misses us entirely, in which case I can finish the deal, albeit counting
the votes manually.

The other scenario is that Ernesto arrives, the power goes off, I have
no way to get in touch with anyone, the other Dixonary players are so
mad I get thrown out of the game permanently, thus ruining my life.

So -- Dan, would you be willing to take my place this time? I can take
yours next time you "win" the deal, if you'd like me to. I think that is
the safest course of action at this point in order to ensure that the
game moves along without delay and uncertainty.

I'll do so... although I'll be moving bases in about 72 hours, with a
connectivity hiccup, but I expect it won't cause too many problems.
New woid shortly.

Thanks. As it stands now, the weather service doesn't seem to think the
storm will be in hurricane status as far as Orlando is concerned, but I
know from past experience that anything can happen!
