View Full Version : [Dixonary] Off Topic: Spam Time Stamp

Got a message today from someone I never heard of, so I dumped it in the
trash basket without reading. But what was odd was that it was dated
8/28 (today is the 27th, as I write this). I thought that my Email
client, Thunderbird, showed me times translated to my own time zone.

Mine (Virtual Access) shows the time and date of the sender, with the
offset from GMT, e.g.

Spammers often stamp their mail with dates in the future. No idea why,
especially as it's a feature spam filters look out for. Maybe it's so that
the spam will stay at the top of your inbox even after other stuff arrives
(assuming you sort your mail most-recent-first).

Spammers often stamp their mail with dates in the future. And some with dates in the past so you may assume it's something you saved and should now look at.

Speaking of spam: did we ever find out how to report spam to
tapcis.com's Email provider (Go Daddy or whatever it is)?

This is something I'll have to look for. I happened to notice this one.
My messages are sorted oldest first, so the spammer's technique would
keep the message at the END.

Speaking of spam: did we ever find out how to report spam to tapcis.com's Email provider (Go Daddy or whatever it is)?Nope. There are all kinds of spam filters, but no report system that I can find.

Possibly the spam filters themselves serve as a reporting system. I will
have to go back and check my settings again. I don't get much, but every
now and then I get one.
