I like a LOT of these; winnowing is difficult. I'll go with #1 and #11. I
think.

Minced conch is a delightful def and and the idea of a king being so tightfisted as to pay his bedesmen by allowing them to beg is
also so outrageous that I have to vote for that too

So #3 and #9 please
