I received this message today and wondered whether our moderator(s) are aware of this. If not -- perhaps it explains some of the message nondelivery that we've experienced:

* * * * *
Yahoo has decided to turn on a Spam filter for all groups. This is
causing major problems in other groups and some emails are not coming
through. I've taken care of this for the groups I moderate.

This is what you have to do to turn Spam Filtering off IF you own or
moderate an elist:

Go to the Management section of the Group
Click on the Messages link under Group Setting section

Click on Edit link next to Posting and Archives
Select Off option under Spam Filtering
Click on Save Changes button

You will have to do this with any/all groups you moderate or own.

Judy,

Thanks for the heads-up. I've taken your advice.

ROFL!

I don't recall (and haven't looked), but do new members here have to be approved before they can post? Still -- anyone can be barred for spamming, I suppose.

Yes, members must be approved by a moderator to join the group. Any email
address that is not in the membership goes into a queue to be moderated and
may or may not get posted to the list in a timely manner.

In theory, a spammer who knew the email address of a member of the group
could send a mail to the list faking their return address. And there's not
much we could do to prevent that, actually.
