Alas, while kerf was obscure to me, at least 4 of the first 8 submitters
have DQd with either the exact or a similar definition, and a 5th player
unwittingly submitted a definition that would have matched the real one.

KERF has been cut.

(And if you don't get the pun, the definition is/was: [AS. cyrf a cutting
off, fr. ceorfan to cut, carve.] A notch, channel, or slit made in any
material by cutting or sawing.)
