Judy, what do you think of this?

Bill pre-filed in NJ legislature (http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2006/Bills/A1500/1327_I1.HTM)

It looks like it would affect this forum, among many others. Is it even constitutional?

Does this NJ Appeals Court decision (http://www.aclu-nj.org/pressroom/appealscourtprotectsanonym.htm) mean that what the bill is trying to do has already been shown to be unconstitutional?

Is there any chance of the bill passing?

The bill is silly, the unanimous decision of the Appellate Division does hold that it's unconstitutional and no, there's no real chance of the bill passing (and certainly no chance that it would be upheld even if it did pass).

By the way, the sponsor is a bit of a nut case in other respects as well. He has sponsored bills to allow forcible taking of blood samples in car accidents, disclosing juvenile records under some circumstances (despite the fact that the juveniles who would have such convictions would be in jail or no longer juveniles), etc.

There's one in every legislature, I suspect. :(

There's one in every legislature, I suspect. :( At least one. Usually a lot more than just one.

Too true, unfortunately!
