LOL - that's a new one to me.

We used to have 'Rotten boroughs' - places that didn't exist.. One was a place which had once been valid but over the centuries had
fallen into the sea. Others were villages that had been depopulated in the Inclosures Acts in the 17th century. We got rid of them
around 1832.

Question about 'your' politics: Over here, while an MP can resign from his party, technically he can't actually resign from being an
MP. There remain two obsolete crown posts, for which an MP can apply - and an MP cannot work for the crown... So he or she applies
for the post of Steward of the Chiltern Hundreds (I don't remember the name of the other post) if he wants to resign. My question
is. Do you have anything similar over there or are you just more honest?

I also found that, technically, you can stand for election as an MP while holding a crown ofice - and be elected and serve - but you
cannot be appointed to a crown office while remaining an MP

Sometimes I think our system is wonderful (not often)
