I have a young nephew who is going through a very tough time physically. He has spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and recently had to have a breathing tube put in during surgery... and hasn't recovered enough to do without it.

We're all trying to keep his spirits up as much as possible, and what Tim loves most are jokes and cartoons and puns. He has a wicked and pixie-ish sense of humor. Any time you run across something you think would appeal to someone young in heart and mind, with a really good sense of humor, please post it (or a link to it) here. It would sure help.

Thanks!

Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear that your nephew is going through that.

I assume you have thought of 'Calvin & Hobbes'?

You know, I hadn't thought of Calvin & Hobbes and I should have (since it's one of my favorites). Thanks!

My personal favorite. Rarely racy, but full of inteligent humor.

I still miss it.

How old is the nephew (in mind), would you say?

And are these for him to read or link to himself, or will they be printed out and read/shown to him?

If he's up for a book, and might like to read about outdoor things (impossible for him, I'm sure --) you cain't hardly beat the Patrick McManus collections --I'd suggest "They Shoot Canoes, Don't They?." Short tall tales --the famous 'My First Deer' or deer on a bicycle story is here.

Are you on Anders Sterner's Usual Suspects mailing list? He has cartoons and cartoons --among other entertainments and some more serious stuff.

Meanwhile, here's a story I enjoyed. (Remember Andy's great Petrie the Parrot story --first published in the old TapCis forum?) Not the game, a true -sort of--- story.

Oh! Oh! I remember that story! I never laughed so hard!

Tim is, has been and forever will be an early teenager in mind. He can read things on a computer screen and his mom and dad print things out for him sometimes. Books may not be doable now...

And the squirrel story is hilarious!
