Thanks for your comments. My son Tom and I waited outside the theatre
while Tanya was having her operation, and it went on an hour and a
half longer than we had been told to expect. We had both mentally
moved the cut higher up her leg with every extra minute that passed,
so we were quite relieved when the surgeon came out and told us how it
had gone. It's still pretty hard to lose half your foot at the age of
34. We saw her today and she looked pretty good. It's going to be a
long and hard recovery, though.
