Thanks to all who sent good wishes to my daughter-in-law Tanya with
their HELLANODIC def. She has been doing much better in the last few
days after an operation to remove dead tissue (damaged by the original
infection) from her left foot. Sadly she has lost about half her foot
but the surgeon was able to make a good base for a prosthetic foot.
She had the tracheostomy tube removed yesterday, and we hope she's
going to be moved out of intensive care later this week - after some
35 days.

Sounds as though things are looking up. I am sorry to hear about her
foot, but I guess that's a small price to pay.

FINALLY! Tanya must be ready and THEN some, and I know you and the rest of the family are ready to have some real progress. Glad to hear it.

Tim: I've been off line most of the time since your original posting, but this news is very good, indeed. In my long career in medicine I've seen so many tragic cases where the infection spread so far that high-thigh or even hemi-pelvectomy amputations were necessary.
My best wishes to Tanya and the whole family.
