View Full Version : Proposed changes to Da Rules

I propose the following changes to avoid incidents like this occuring, and also propose that #2 should take effect now:

1. Increase the time before a new dealer is chosen to at least 36 hours after the previous round closes (maybe 48 would be better).

2. If someone posts a woid, that person is de facto the dealer. If 2 people post woids, the first one to post is da dealer.

Following this, Franny would be the dealer. Let me know what you think.

I think we also need a new Rules Momma (and/or Rules Pappa) since Sterner and Carey are no longer playing. I nominate Toni Savage and Russ Heimerson as two of the players who have been with us the longest.

I agree with the changes.
Since I screwed up this round, I'm not sure I should be allowed to vote.
I withdraw my word and recognize Franny as dealer, and apologize to her.

Second the motion, if they agree.

Hi Mike,

I agree with the proposed changes. I prefer a time frame of 36 hours over
one of 48 hours.

I don't think that we "need" a rulez momma or a rulez pappa, but I won't
object to one either. And I would accept any regular player who is willing
to take that position, as I think that everyone in here is mature enough to
be a good rulez momma/pappa.

Best, Hugo

The changes sound good to me and I prefer the 36 hour deadline rather than 48. It seems to me that the change is in line with actual practice as someone has already pointed out.

Both of the rules sound good to me. I would put in a *strong suggestion* in
the rules that when posting the results, the dealer separately emails the
new prospective dealer, alerting them of their "win". This cuts down on
some of the delay associated with waiting for the results to propagate via
various means.

Dan, your strong suggestion would have likely prevented the current mess I created by not finding out I should be the dealer until Franny had already stepped in, and then posting a word when Franny had posted one.
No rule will prevent curm from screwing up, but it might help a little.

I received an e-mail for our friend and one-time member, ARSEsq, aka Anders Sterner, Esq., to convey that he is in favor of the rules change suggested by Mike.
I am only a messenger, but I agree with the message.
