[Dixonary] Off-topic: Spurt of spam

Dunno about you-all, but I've been having a sudden increase in spam the
past few days, and I've seen similar comments elsewhere. And there's a
clear focus on certain categories of (cheap) merchandise.

Some of it's readily explained by the fact that the gifting season is upon
us--like the spurt in the supply of fake Rolexes.

But who among us is inclined to surprise friends and family members with
supplies of cut-rate Viagra and Cialis?

my compuserve account was finally terminated last week when the daily incoming spam exceeded my allowed mailbox. I had been
logging on daily, (using OZWIN) grabbing headers and deleting all but the 2 or 3 real messages without reading anything other than
the headers. Averaging 250+ spam per day was somewhat annoying - and of course, as the male of the species I was receiving the
porn-site spam as well as the other things

I found it interesting that they can say I receive all this spam but aren't prepared to clobber it at their end - despite repeated
requests on my part to do so.

Just the other day I "shut down" my CompuServe account to incoming email from the Internet. Enough is . . . too much!
