View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 1663: SOCLE results

Just like I did yesterday with the turkey, I'm going to stick a fork in
this round and call it done, all vote submitters (and 3 more regulars)
having voted. The penultimate voter did change what I thought only
hours ago was a runaway winner, casting the deciding vote to switch to a
new victim.

Three smart players knew enough of the etymology of SOCLE to recognize
it as some sort of plinth, which it was. John Barrs DQ'd, and both Paul
Keating and Wayne Scott submitted plinthish definitions, each of which I
seriously considered combining with the real one, but both differed
enough that I chose not to. That turns out to have been a wise choice,
since Wayne's definition received six votes, and Paul's received four
(and he voted for the other two plinths.) Wayne's natural six from a
last-minute vote beats Paul's unnatural one, making him the next dealer.

Tim Bourne and Dodi Schultz joined Paul in voting for the real def.
Honorable mention goes tohe only other definition to receive more than
the 3 votes of the AHD's plain plinth, Scott Crom's Thanksgiving
gobbler, appropriately enough. If I'd have been playing, I'd have voted
for that one too!

Take it away, Wayne!

This was a nailbiting / lively / easy / quiet / boring round...

And the next deal is for Nancy Shepherdson or Wayne Scott with 6 natural
