Paul, and Scott, a couple questions about the file download area
Firstly, thanks for hosting Dixomatic! When i release an updated version,
how do i upload it here -- shall i just email you the zip?
Secondly, the option in Dixomatic to check for words dealt before relies on
the current format of WORDSABC.DIX and/or WORDS123.DIX files, as used to be
uploaded to CompuServe, and most recently maintained by Scott Crom. For the
user to find (ei)the(r) file within Dixomatic, it's also helpful if they
were able to download it under its original name.
Scott, are you happy to continue producing these files?
Paul, the most recent one i could find on your site is in directory
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/coryphaeus/files/History%20and%20Statistics/
and found by clicking the Wordlist_1550.htm link (copy of WORDSABC.DIX for
round 1-1550). Scott has actually released a version including 1-1610 last i
looked (i grabbed it off CIS, and could email it).
What shall we do to make recent versions available as they are produced?
Another idea... i note there are other old-word-lists floating around, not
sure what format. It seems silly to have several people producing lists in
parallel. We could all stick our heads together and figure out who is
already doing what anyway, and if there is a simple other format already in
use i could teach Dixonary to use, i could just re-write it to use that
format, and the maintainer(s) of the list(s) could decide among each other
not to have to do double work.
Ideas? Comments?
