Hi all,

There are a total of 21 definitions for STABILATE. Please vote for two, by
public reply to this message, before the deadline, which is

20:00 CET on woensdag 16 november 2005,
19:00 UTC ,
14:00 EST , or
11:00 PST .

All times are expressed in ISO ("military") style so hours less than 12
mean AM.

1. To coat metal with oxides to protect from corrosion.

2. To rotate on an eccentric axis.

3. To reshape a ship's propellor.

4. To adjust a robotic tool.

5. A tobacco pipe carved into the shape of a horse's head.

6. Occluded.

7. To clean up an environment after it has been disturbed, such as
after a storm, fire, flood, etc.

8. [bot.] Having a pinnately divided leaf with an enlarged terminal
lobe and smaller lateral lobes.

9. A fixative for charcoal drawings or pastels.

10. Of or related to stabiles (see _Alexander Calder_).

11. A stable-boy [pronounced stable'-atty': proposed gender-neutral
term to overcome the fact that many 'stable-boys' are actually of a
feminine persuasion].

12. The property of a chemical reaction to occur at a constant rate
regardless of the concentrations of the reactants.

13. Any of a number of compounds used as the base for indelible marking
inks.

14. Having a blistered appearance.

15. [bot.] Having a corrugated surface.

16. To stir thoroughly, to whip ingredients.

permanent arrangement.

18. A population of organisms similar to but more stable than a strain
and maintained in viable condition for a particular purpose.

20. Withdraw a horse from a race, usually due to injury.

21. To stab; coined by a desperate poet who couldn't find a rhyme for
jubilate.

While I'm sorely tempted by the obviously-false #21, I'll pass. Or, as the
author of #20 might think, scratch my entry.

Skipping all of the "stable" take-offs, and the Dixon-matching botanicals,
I'll vote for 6 and 14, please.

#21 - because it sounds like something I'd come up with. No, wait, even better than what I'd come up with, much better.

(Actually, "stabiliate" sounds like a Bushism, ie., "We must stabiliate Iraq." But, never mind, this is about voting, not defining.)
