Two players, Russ Heimerson and John Barrs, knew that neper had
something to do with electrical signal ratios and were DQ for this
round. Three other players guessed as much and voted for the
definition from the International House of Logorrhea Phrontistery. The
deal goes to a fairly new player, Roberta Muths (aka Keno), who voted
for the correct definition on top of her three natural points, for a
total of five. Nancy Shepherdson and Guerri Stevens are the real
winners with four points each.

Amazingly enough, it looks like its etymology draws from John Napier,
the inventor of logarithms, and subject of my definition (which
attracted no votes, alas!)

I've not really learned how to play the game yet. Could I perhaps pass the
deal ?

Hi Roberta,

Well, since John Barrs kindly took my last deal when I didn't have the time
to deal myself, I'll take yours. Maybe you can take John's next deal, then?
<g>

If nobody objects, I'll go browsing some dictionaries and put up the next
word in an hour or so.

Best, Hugo

((((((HUGO)))))) Actually I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready to deal <G> I
don't understand half the emails that are being sent about the workings of
this game. Winning the deal was my worst nightmare come true. I'm much luckier
than I am smart !! I'd be happy to give the group gambling lessons in
exchange for all the entertainment they've been giving me.

Ummm, Roberta, there isn't much gambling involved in dixonary. Gamboling, on the other hand, is encouraged.
