A nice dozen possible definitions for "FURPHY" of which kindly vote for
two, sans recourse to a dictionary, before 8 a.m. EDT on Friday 30 March
2018.
1. a water cart.
2. a thumbscrew.
3. a tinker's tool kit.
4. an advertising sticker.
5. description of pestilential diseases.
6. instant mashed potato made from powder. [Ir. sl.]
7. a leaching well in an agricltural irrigation system.
8. [Obs] out-of-breath; harshly or unfairly treated.
9. [Obs] a horse-drawn cart used to collect night soil.
10. a type of wild onion, typically dark green in color, spindly, and
inedible.
11. [Film] a plot device which divert's the audience's attention away from
something significant.
12. a yellow arsenic sulfide mineral woth a monoclinic crystalline
structure, also known as orpiment.
