Hi all,

Crossing fingers that all is well in this posting after having fat fingered
at least three things in the progress posting. We have 12 definitions for
ottavino, one of which is real, all of which are pretty darned clever.
Please post your votes here for the two you think express ottavino most
accurately. New players welcome to vote.

Deadline to vote is being extended a bit because I have an evening meeting
tomorrow. So please vote by 10 p.m. EST (9 CST) Wednesday January 24 which
means, I'm told, 3 a.m. GMT Thursday January 24. Please use
timeanddate.com to figure out your time zone if needed.

And may the best player "win"!

Nancy

1. a naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver, with trace amounts of
copper and other metals.

2. "Hero's Blood" - drinks with high alcohol content consumed before actual
battle, or the more abstract kind.

3. an organ stop of the flute type, one octave higher than the quarte.

4 .flowing in opposite direction to original slope of land.

5. An elaborately knotted cravat, popularized by English dandy Beau
Brummell (1778-1840).

6. a narrow one-way street, especially in Naples.

7. A sort of flute; a piccolo.

8. A mute for an instrument.

9. any of a group of adulterated wines sold in Italy, frequently containing
no actual wine at all.

10. a short-tailed South American rodent

11. a coin from the time of the Emperor Octavian.

12. falsetto voice register [literally "an octave higher"]

With no clue of a possible definition, I'll take these:

7. A sort of flute; a piccolo.

8. A mute for an instrument.
