If I did not know my own name, I would be abashed. Now will someone deal
"Barrs"?

What a great word! The dictionary definition of "standish" was such an obvious fake ("standish" and "stand?" Not possible!) that I eliminated it right after eliminating my own. Congratulations on a well-deserved D0!

Thanks to you all. I came across this word in a period novel, and wondered what it meant. It doesn't
sound like a noun, and the definition really isn't very convincing; the ones in other dictionaries
are much the same.

Perhaps now I can have a little rest from winning!

Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.
