View Full Version : [Dixonary] Vote in Round 2843: TUMI

Folks,

The progress report, or perhaps just the progress of time, turned up two more definitions of TUMI for a total of thirteen. One entry in the list below is its real meaning. The other dozen are your fellow players' efforts to deceive you. They have been edited for format consistency and are in ascending order by character count, which may not correspond to visual length in your email display font. Please vote for two that you like for any reason (such as, but not necessarily, thinking that they might be correct) by public Reply to this message before the deadline that follows the list.

1. a bulbous vase.

2. the death of hope.

3. a reindeer harness.

4. a cloth to cover a horse.

5. another name for the coypu.

6. a Peruvian ceremonial knife.

7. the cutting edge of a bird's bill.

8. [Mong.] a pregnant Bactrian camel.

9. a stretch of open water surrounded by ice.

10. [Jap.] A stairway, especially one made of stone.

11. a giant rat from Tonga, which lives in trees and can crack coconuts.

12. a mound similar in shape to a drumlin, but not formed by glacial forces..

13. a highly spiced dish consisting of roasted game birds minced and stewed in wine.

The deadline for votes is about 35 1/2 hours from now: 9 pm on Wed., Oct. 18, in the eastern U.S. According to timeanddate.com <http://timeanddate.com/> that is also:

and other times in other places. You may want to check the conversion that applies to you, as different countries go on or off daylight saving (summer) time on different dates around this time of year. This site, though good, doesn't claim to be perfect.

New players are welcome to vote, even if you didn't submit a definition for this word - as are, of course, veteran players who happened not to. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> .

Have at it!

Efrem

Got it, thanks!

Since I don't know what a "coypu" is and I don't know what a "drumlin" is, I'll vote for 5 and 12.

I'm very tempted by the coconut-cracking rat, but I'll go for the vase and
the ice-free water, 1 and 9. please.

1. a bulbous vase.

9. a stretch of open water surrounded by ice.

Let's do 6 and 10, but let's not be ostentatious about it.

6. a Peruvian ceremonial knife.
